A morning at my parent's

I wake up around 7:30 and decide to go downstairs and plan my lesson that I am going to teach tomorrow. Within 5 minutes of me doing homework I get a holler to come up for family scripture study with my mom and dad.
Dad: (Yelling from upstairs) Beck come read scriptures with us!!
Me: Ok, you can start without me, I'll be up in a few
Dad: Oh we'll wait! We are reading in 3rd Nephi today and You do not want to miss out!
Me: (Laughing/sighing to myself!) Ok, be up in a few!
I then go upstairs hop in my parents bed and listen to my dad read about the savior coming down and visiting the Americas!
Good start to a morning!
Next my mom gets all excited and says "Let's go make waffles!"
As we are walking down stairs together she whispers to me that she got a brand new waffle iron and is so excited to use it! (She is trying to hide the fact that she bought a new one from my dad because she knows he will have something to say about it)

I go downstairs and wait while my mom retrieves her new possession from the basement... While I'm sitting there in comes my dad! Mom comes up with the new iron and creeps around the corner... As my dad stares at her with his look of "there she goes again spending money" She instantly makes a comment to protect herself: "My old iron broke so I had to buy a new one!"
(This new waffle iron is a double decker iron that makes two huge belgain waffles at once! Considering its just her and my dad at home it seems as though it's very very needed)

Ha I start laughing and say "Ya she threw her old one on the ground so she had an excuse to buy a more advanced one"

My dad helps her set up the new iron and proceeds to say "Happy anniversary honey"
Ha my Mom says: "NO NO NO, just because I bought a new waffle iron does not mean that is my present!"
My dad ofcourse smirks at his joke and puts in a few more words about all the decorations, rugs and house supplies she's constantly buying.
The battle is over!
It's so great to see how opposite my mom and dad are and yet how perfect they really are for each other!

Without my mom I think I might have worn all of Heather's hand me downs growing up, and without my dad I think I would not know how to save money and would constantly be in debt! Good thing they both kept me well balanced!

I'm excited to move back in here in a few weeks for a little while and have these everyday encounters!
My dad
